METAL FABRICATION
Aluminum Fidget Spinner
SPRING 2017
Designed by William Hua, I was tasked with fabricating an aluminum twin-bladed fidget spinner with chamfered edges housing a 22-millimeter diameter bearing. The fabrication time took five hours, exploring various techniques like milling, drilling, filing, sandblasting, and interference fit.

One of the biggest challenges was to make sure I do not widen the center hole above its tolerance or else the aluminum body wouldn't be able to perfectly hold its bearing. This milling operation also had to be done last since the stock would lose its center grip. The fidget spinner is then sandblasted for a matte finish and a texturized grip.
